Get To Know Hand Signal Communication at iFLY!
iFly simulates the sensation of flying freely in the sky through the wind moving vertically in a
tunnel of 3x16 meters. Wind speeds inside the tunnel were blowing at over 100 miles per hour, making
it nearly impossible for skydivers to hear the sound.
Therefore, the instructor will communicate using hand signals while inside the wind tunnel. The hand
signals will make it easier for first-timer to improve the flying position, balancing the body and
also safety reason. Here are the basic hand signals to be instructed by the instructor:
1. Chin Up
When the instructor gives the index finger pointing up in front of your eyes, you are required to
lift your chin while flying. Lifting the chin will affecting body posture and help to balance the
body in the air.
2. Straighten Legs
When the instructor gives the index finger and middle finger in front of your eyes (peace sign), you
are required to straighten your legs. Straight legs help to balance the body in the air.
3. Relax
The most important thing while flying is getting your body as relaxed as possible. Therefore, the
sign that instructor will give to you to relax is showing the thumb and little finger together in
front of your eyes. Don't hold your breathe, take a breathe normally and slowly.
